Just a short one this time: this is a photo of the "Fallen Monarch" which I took at Yosemite a few years back. It truly is a giant: the roots measure nearly 8m across. It seemed fitting.
No matter what your views are on monarchy as an institution, current events feel archetypal, maybe uncomfortably uprooting, maybe freeing for movement, either way, they herald change.
Rest in peace, Ma'am.
